Chris Riley

Amateur, Professional

Mr. Chris Riley was born in San Diego, Calif., and grew up in the popular golf world that included good friend Tiger Woods. Mr. Riley attended UNLV and graduated in 1996 with a degree in communications, and also became the first four-time All-American in any sport at the school. He was a teammate of Chad Campbell and Edward Fryatt while he played with the Rebels.

Through the first portion of his PGA Tour career, Riley has earned almost $10 million including banner seasons in 2002 (22nd on the PGA Tour money list) and 2003 (23rd on the money list), in which he earned more than $2 million in each season. In those two years he combined for a dozen top-10 finishes including his lone victory on the PGA Tour, the 2002 Reno-Tahoe Open when he won in a playoff.

His top highlight as a pro was his selection to the 2004 Ryder Cup team where he was paired with Tiger Woods during one of the sessions and the two combined for an early-match victory. “Getting paired with the best player in the world, in my opinion, I pretty much free-wheeled it out there because I knew I was going to have a backup,” said Riley. “I helped on a couple of holes maybe one or two holes on the front nine and then I was tired of watching him play by himself so then I made some putts on the back nine.”

Riley came close in his hometown of San Diego, only to lose in a playoff to John Daly at the 2004 Buick Invitational. He also won on the Nationwide Tour, the 2007 Rochester Area Charities Showdown at Somerby presented by Think.

Tiger Woods says it best when describing Mr. Riley: “He’s someone who will fight all the way around, and he never dogs it. He’s one of the top grinders out here. And he’s such a nice guy–a little strange at times, but that’s just Riley.”  Riley married former LPGA player Michele Louviere in 2002 in New Orleans and they have two daughters, Rose and Taylor Lynn. Riley and family lived full-time in Las Vegas for many years.
