Biography

Every successful organization has a group that holds everything together.

Golf is no different and in Southern Nevada, it’s the Southern Nevada Golf Association.

The organization started in 1967 and has helped thousands and thousands of golfers play tournament golf.

Along the way, many professional golfers have gotten their start in the SNGA including Scott Piercy, Robert Gamez, Craig Barlow, Ed Fryatt and others.

The staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure events are run smoothly as well as being responsible for course ratings, USGA, SNGA and Nevada State Golf Association tournaments, junior golf events and implementing handicap systems for area courses and clubs.

List of Achievements

  • Came into existence in 1967.
  • Responsible for running tournaments in and around the Las Vegas area ranging from junior tournaments to college events to regional qualifiers for USGA tournaments.
  • Current and former pros like Scott Piercy, Robert Gamez, Craig Barlow, Ed Fryatt and others got their starts in the SNGA ranks.
  • Has had volunteers lend a helping hand including the likes of Clyde Sobb, Stuart Reid, Eric Dutt, Jim Alexander, Lou Oliver, Larry McGovern, Sue May, Brady Exber, Frank Acker, Ann Sunstrom, Tim Quinn and many more.
