Las Vegas Golf Champions
Las Vegas Golf Champions

Las Vegas has a long and deep professional golf history. The inaugural PGA Tour Tournament of Champions was played in 1953 at the Desert Inn Country Club and the LPGA Tour hosted the LPGA Championship, a Major, at Stardust Country from 1961-66. And the Senior PGA Tour played many events in Las Vegas golf over the years. The biggest names in golf have won championships in Las Vegas including Paul Azinger, Las Vegas’ own Jim Colbert, Raymond Floyd, Hale Irwin, Nancy Lopez, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Lorena Ochoa, Arnold Palmer, Annika Sorenstam, Karrie Webb, Mickey Wright, and Tiger Woods, who won the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational. That championship was Tiger’s first victory on the PGA Tour.
