Golf starts with the Southern Nevada Golf Association in this area. The organization, which is the official arm of the United States Golf Association in Southern Nevada, celebrates 50 years in 2017 and thousands of golfers of every level have enjoyed SNGA tournaments and events.
The SNGA has helped pave the way for future PGA Tour players like Scott Piercy, Robert Gamez, Craig Barlow and Edward Fryatt, and also provided a place to play for net players who tee it up for the love of the game.
The SNGA and their staff and a volunteer board of directors are the keepers of the game in Southern Nevada and a true hall of fame organization.
The SNGA is responsible for course rating, USGA, SNGA and Nevada State Golf Association tournaments, junior golf and implementing the GHIN system at area courses and clubs.
Dozens have people and volunteers have been influential to the SNGA including the founding father, Clyde Cobb, Stuart Reid, Eric Dutt, Jim Alexander, Lou Oliver, Larry McGovern, Sue May, Brady Exber, Frank Acker, Ann Sunstrum, Tim Quinn and many, many others.
