LAS VEGAS GOLF HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCES CLASS OF 2011 AND ANNUAL PRO-AM EVENT
The Class of 2011 includes a PGA Tour veteran, a long drive visionary, and a top amateur. They will be celebrated at the Classic Pro-Am event on Monday, June 27,at Las Vegas National Golf Club
LAS VEGAS, NV (May 24, 2011) – The Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame is proud to announce the 2011 inductees and the third annual Classic Pro-Am event, which takes place on Monday, June 27th at the Hall of Fame’s home course, Las Vegas National Golf Club with a 7:30 AM shotgun start. Having contributed greatly to the game of golf and the Las Vegas golf community, the three deserving inductees for 2011 are Craig Barlow, a PGA Tour veteran who has tallied more than $5 million in career earnings and who grew up in Las Vegas; Laurie Johnson, a high-level amateur with a win at the 2010 Southern NV Senior Amateur Championship and six wins at the Southern Nevada Amateur Championship; and Art Sellinger, Owner/CEO and visionary of Long Drivers of America and a two-time U.S. national long drive champion, who is credited with making the sport of long driving an international phenomenon.
The Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame Classic Pro-Am pairs each foursome with a PGA of America professional, and is open to the public. The event promises to attract a who’s who of golfers including many inductees of the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame. Teams of four players plus a professional are $575 or
entry for individual players is $125. Entry fees include lunch, prizes, an official shirt and more. The professional division will be playing for the John DiFloure Cup and cash. About the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame
The mission of the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame is to celebrate and bring awareness to players, administrators, benefactors, groups, instructors, teams, and other worthy golfers who have served the game of golf in Las Vegas in a positive and meaningful way; whether through performance on the course, volunteerism, financial support, promotion, or other dedicated service. An additional aspect of the mission is to help reveal Las Vegas as a great golf destination. A 16-person committee made up of Las Vegas golf professionals, media, amateur association leaders, and Hall of Fame members, oversees the voting process. The annual induction ceremony takes place during the week of the PGA Tour’s Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. A museum-quality exhibit featuring an in-depth Las Vegas golf time line, historic photos, and a special area honoring the Las Vegas Founders that features the official trophies used by Las Vegas’ PGA Tour and Champions Tour events is located in the clubhouse of Las Vegas National Golf Club. The museum is open and free to the public during regular Club hours.

Las Vegas National Golf Club is located less than two miles from the Las Vegas Strip and is one of the most historic golf courses in Las Vegas. Las Vegas National Golf Club is past host of the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions, Sahara Invitational and Las Vegas Invitational, in addition to the LPGA Tour’s LPGA Championship. Tiger Woods captured the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational, his first PGA Tour win, and his charity event, Tiger Jam, is one of many star-studded celebrity golf events that are held annually in Las Vegas. In addition, the Las Vegas area is home to several high-end, made-for-television events including the Wendy’s Three-Tour Challenge, the World Series of Golf, and the Re-Max World Long Drive Championship. The UNLV men’s and women’s golf teams are now annually ranked in the top 25. The 1998 men’s team captured the NCAA title, and currently there are several former UNLV golfers playing on the PGA Tour including Adam Scott and former Ryder Cup members Chad Campbell and Chris Riley, 2004 NCAA Champion Ryan Moore, and PGA Tour winner Charley Hoffman.
